    I have several laptops & desktops along with volume licensing.On the desktops, my bootable win 10/win11 iso works just fine created with Rufus, I can boot to the USB and install windows on the local drive, no issues. When I use that same USB on several variations of laptops and it'll boot the USB, but it won't recognize local drives. I can boot to anything just fine including Hirens, but nothing I boot to will see local drives except for an ISO created by windows media creation tool.Can anyone help me understand why, or how to get around this?For ease of conversation, MSI Summit B15 laptop

    Multi-bootable USB

    Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

    I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

    The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

    1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
    2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
    3. MemTest86+

    Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!

    Question about using Rufus to create a Bootable USB flash drive

    Hi all,
    Having had a problem using the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable Windows 10 USB flash drive Ive decided to use the Media Creation Tool to download the Windows 10 ISO and then use Rufus to create the bootable USB flash drive.
    After downloading Rufus onto my laptop. Is it better to insert the USB flash drive first before running Rufus or should I run the Rufus utility first and only when Rufus is open, then insert the USB flash drive?
    Ive been to the Rufus homepage and there arent any tutorial instructions there at all.
    Ive seen it mentioned on a couple of sites that everything must be done in the correct order or there can be problems. The trouble is ive seen instructions to insert the usb flash drive before running Rufus and also insert the usb flash drive after opening Rufus!!
    Does it make any difference at what point the USB flash drive is inserted or is it irrelevant?

    Hi,

    We use many third-party tools for creating Bootable USB drives.

    Rufus is one of those and well-known tool.

    Can we create bootable USB drives without using any third-party tool?

    If yes, can we create bootable USB drives with all options available in Rufus without using Rufus?
