  1. Laptop locks after 30 seconds when plugged into a monitor

I will literally give gold to anyone who can solve this problem, it's so annoying and no one's been able to solve it yet.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad and it's running Windows 10 Pro.

For some reason, when it's plugged into a monitor, after 30 seconds of inactivity my screen suddenly dims and locks (so if I'm reading an email or watching a video or something my computer will just lock itself if I don't get to the mouse in time). It doesn't happen if it's not plugged into the monitor.

I have tried changing pretty much every setting in Settings / Control Panel and changing values in the Registry Editor, and I've tried the popular solutions on Google, but nothing seems to work.

    PLEASE. HELP.

  2. Issues while installing a second monitor in Windows 10

Really? I get a canned answer and nothing else? I posted that I had tried everything that I could find posted online. I did read the post that Andre suggested multiple times prior to posting this request for help. None of it helped.

My computer does not recognize that there is a second monitor is plugged in. The small step of changing the settings so I can put stuff on the second monitor ISN'T the issue. I am not that dumb. in the device manager there is only the single monitor listed
at one point there was a unknown device listed but my computer did not know if it was a monitor or a printer.

There has to be someone out there that knows how to fix this

    Please Help

Laptop display and monitor will not wake when HDMI cable plugged into laptop.

I have a laptop. Lenovo ideapad FLEX 4-1480 Signature Edition.

The laptop has a display, and the laptop is connected to a monitor via an HDMI cable.

    Sleep mode is disabled.

    Screen timeout is enabled.

I lock the computer. The laptop display and monitor both eventually deactivate.

I move the mouse and press keys to wake the monitor. Nothing happens on either the laptop display or the monitor.

If the HDMI cable is not plugged into the laptop, the laptop display will wake as intended. The problem happens only when the HDMI cable is plugged into the laptop.

I have to remove the HDMI cable from the laptop, wait a few seconds, reinsert it, then the laptop display and monitor will wake. Again, the laptop display will wake just fine when the HDMI cable is not plugged in.

  4. Laptop locks after 30 seconds when plugged into a monitor

Windows 10 does not recognise second monitor

    Hi Raffaele,

For us to sort out this problem with your dual monitors, we'd like to gather more information about what happened so we can address the issue appropriately. Below are a few questions we'd like to ask:

    • Does the monitor on the laptop work if you disconnect the other monitor?
    • Is the second monitor connected to the laptop using a DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort cable?

While waiting for your feedback, we suggest that you disconnect the second monitor from the laptop and check if its own monitor is working. If not, restart the laptop and check again.

    Update us with the result.

    Regards.
