Windows 10: Laptop monitor does not work but works on external monitor

I was working on my laptop video editing and my screen suddenly froze for about 15 minutes so I forced shutdown and on booting my laptopagain the screen refuses to display I tried all the fixes I could do I decided to connect to an external monitor and then it displays a blue screen saying video tdr failure. I took it to a repair shop the next day to check the screen they saw that nothing was wrong with the screen as they installed my screen on another laptop and it worked and they also installed another working screen on my laptop and no display. They've even given up on it. I've never for

External monitor stopped working suddenly

I have been using an external monitor with my Lenovo laptop. Today it suddenly stopped working. I have tried the following:

- connected the monitor and the laptop with an HDMI cable (does not work)

- connected the monitor to docking station, which is connected to the laptop (does not work)

- connected another laptop to the docking station (works)

- connected another laptop to the monitor using HDMI (works)

Obviously, the probelm is not cable or the monitor (or the HDMI port on the non working laptop since it doesn't work with the docking station either).

I have tried restarting the laptop, removing the driver, updating the driver, rolling it back. Nothing has worked.

Any suggestions?

 

Surface Laptop 3 with external monitor

Hi All,

Has anyone come across an issue with an external monitor blacking out while connected to a Surface Laptop 3? I have the laptop connected to a widescreen laptop with the Surface Dock. Both work fine however, once every hour or so the external monitor blacks out and comes back.

I've completed the following:

• Updated laptop drivers and firmware
  • Updated monitor drivers
  • Swapped out monitor

• Did you check if the external monitor work fine with other systems?

To check if there is any issues with HDMI cable or external monitor, I suggest you to try connecting it to any other Laptop/Computer and check if this works fine.
