Windows 10: Laptop monitor not going to 120hz

Hello, earlier this week I had a problem that my monitor was stuck on 60 hz after I tried updating my graphics drivers. It was supposed to be on 120 hz but it didn't allow me to go above 60. I got a display port because that's what people were suggesting, I was able to have the option to switch to 120 hz but when I press the option to switch to 120, the screen goes black, then goes back to 60/85 hz. I have a Asus gaming laptop with nvidia and intel drivers

My previous monitor is an Acer nitro VG241Y and 240hz connected with HDMI2.0 on my laptop works pretty fine But I bought an Acer nitro XV252qZ and it stuck on 120hz

Not officially.
Unofficially, there are the overclockable monitors.

There's at least four different IPS / PLS models that can be overclocked up to 120Hz, as well as some speciality models, like the Catleap 2B or the Overlord Tempest, and the QNIX panels. They are listed within the 120Hz monitor list.

 

120hz Monitor, HDMI or DVI-D cable?

If I was a little vague about HDMI, it's because I don't know what your monitor supports. I can't swear that it won't do 120Hz, via HDMI, but I believe that it can't.

Interestingly, the spec sheet in post #1 lists 85Hz as the maximum vertical frequency for a digital input. However, the AnandTech review clearly has it as a 120Hz 3D capable monitor.
