Windows 10: Laptop name changed after a hardware change

Hi all,


I have a TOSHIBA Satellite C850-P5010, it acts strange every 3 month, the ALT key is being pressed and I can't really do anything.


So every time I give to the repairman he replaces the keyboard.

One day, I asked him what is the permanent solution, he replaced the hard disk demanding to be having bad sector.

But after service, there is no instance of Satellite, C850 or anything instead it shows Dakar10F.


I am really very fed up as automated system checks fail saying there is no such device.


Please tell how to change the name back to Satellite C850


Only a hard disk was replaced.

Please tell me what was the problem and how to fix it.

If you desire a name change please do the following:

• Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
• Make sure you have a good reason.
• Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
• Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.

We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

• Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
• Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
• Reboot your PC.
• Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
