    Laptop no longer connects to extender. (other devices still do)


    Last week, the power breaker to the WiFi extender my laptop connects to tripped. After my landlord reset the breaker, my laptop refuses to connect to the extender. It connects to the main router in the house (my apartment and the extender are in a separated garage), but this is a slower connection with 1/3 bars. Other devices, like the TV and my phone, still connect to the extender with no problem.


    When I try connecting to the extender, the WiFi icon flashes (see lower left box, the icon there flashes), then the menu minimizes and returns. After returning, it simply states, "Can't connect to this network." I can't figure out why this is happening. On the attached pictures, the top entry is the main router (inside the house) and the second entry is the extender.

    I know the password I'm entering is correct. I've run Windows Update and restarted the laptop. I've had the extender reset and the laptop still won't connect. I've tried updating the drivers for the network card and it doesn't fix the problem. I've tried uninstalling the network card and it still doesn't fix the problem. I've examined the properties of the network card and nothing stands out for scrutiny.


    I'm having trouble finding relevant information via Google searches and the Windows Community for this specific issue since most results assume no connectivity, and most results usually suggest uninstalling the network card. Does anyone know how I can figure this out? Thanks.

    laptop will not connect to wifi extender

    Hello

    Laptop : asus G551J gaming laptop

    Extender : Linksys RE2000

    It says that it cannot connect to wifi

    Also frogot to mention other devices are able to connect but the laptop wont

    connecting to my wifi extender

    I cannot connect to my wifi extender (netgear) from my laptop. I have Windows 10 installed. I can connect with all other devices (cell phones).

    I can connect to my modem/router but when trying to connect to the extender it says "internet not available". Any suggestions or has this nothing to do with Microsoft products?

    Thanks again for your suggestions Greg. I have to leave the office now for the day and hope to look thru your links tonight or tomorrow.

    Just as an aside...I was actually connected to my extender via my laptop for a little time. I had to unplug and replug in the extender and since then I cannot get reconnected. All the indicating lights are on and all other devices are connected. I just cant
    get my laptop back on line with the extender. I can get on the internet via the modem/router but the signal is very poor so my laptop is very slow. That is why I am in need of getting back on line with the extender.

    Anyway, i will try your suggestions and let you know how I do! Thanks again!
