2. windows 10 doesn't recognize external speakers

Dear KennethGranby

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that your computer does not seem to recognize the external speakers. Since the information I know is valid, I am unable to provide you with a more effective solution, if it is convenient for you to share the following information with me:

• What specifically is the external speaker you have plugged in? By what means is it connected to the computer?
• What exactly do you mean when you mention that it is not recognized? Does it mean that it cannot be linked to the computer, or that it does not work properly when connected?
• Have you tried other external speakers? Are they also not recognized?
• What is the brand of computer you are using? Is it a laptop or an assembly machine?

Before that, you can try the following options for initial troubleshooting: 1, plug in the external speakers 2, right click on the "Start" button, open the device manager, in the audio input and output column to find out if there is your connected device. 3, if you find the device you use, you can uninstall the device. Then select Detect Scan for hardware changes in the menu bar action above.

If the problem persists through the above steps of updating the driver, please share more details of your information with me in your reply. I will work with you to try other troubleshooting options.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

3. Laptop suddenly stopped recognizing the external monitor

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

To assist you better, I would like to ask if the laptop is unable to recognize only the external monitor or other external devices also.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Hope the information is helpful. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

4. Laptop Not Recognizing External Speakers

External speakers not recognized as installed.

After reinstalling Windows 10 and resetting my computer, it no longer recognizes that external speakers are connected. (I have no internal speakers.) It says, “No audio output device is installed.” None of the supposed solutions posted (e.g., update driver,
uninstall & reinstall driver, troubleshooting) are effective because all depend on the computer recognizing that the speakers are installed. I have tried connecting other external speakers, but these too are not recognized as installed. How do I get my computer
to recognize that the external speakers are indeed attached so I can get my sound back? (Note: The speakers worked fine before the reinstall and reset.)
