    Hi,

Next i got the notification that the laptop will restart in 5 min. Post which I am not able to go past the startup screen and the next advanced troubleshooting screen.Laptop not starting after a Lenovo system update [IMG] Now as per my office support team, ill need to reset the system. To be able to do that, I need to get into safe mode, but i tried everything turning off and on several times, pressing shift while turning on the system, etc but nothing works.

    Kindly advise.

Pls note that I'm also not reaching the sign in page. First screen is Lenovo startup page with its logo, and second one is below:

  2. Terrible performance with latest windows 10 update on Lenovo Laptop

Since you have completed most of the steps on the list on how we can improve the PC performance in Windows 10, we can now check the components on your laptop. This is to make sure that the Windows Update is calibrated with the hardware on your laptop.
    This
    link
contains an article by Andre Da Costa, wherein he listed on how to determine if the PC is compatible with the Windows 10. Please check if your Windows 10 has now the version 1709 by pressing
Win + R then type winver. Select your OEM on the list and check if Lenovo has an update for the drivers on your laptop. You may also need Lenovo to assist you if there's an update with your laptop's system BIOS.

    Regards.

  3. Multiple 0x0000009c BSODs on Windows 10 Lenovo Laptop

    Symptoms:
    • Windows 10 Pro BSODs randomly (after freezing). I have almost 12 identical dumps (attached).
    • There seems to be no pattern to it but sometimes it happens when the machine is idle.
    • The machine just hangs and then eventually reboots -- most of the time I don't even see a BSOD screen, it just goes from a frozen screen to reboot and the dump is generated.

    Steps Taken With No Success:
    • Ran full memtest with no issues.
    • Clean Windows reinstall.
    • Changed from HDD to Crucial SSD.
    • Updated BIOS and drivers to what I think are the latest (manufacturer website).

    Important System Characteristics:
    • Lenovo Z70 laptop with dual Intel 5500 and nVidia GeForce 840M graphics cards
    • Virtualization technology is turned on in BIOS in order to run virtual machines
    • The BSODs stopped for a good while and then started up again quite frequently lately. I haven't been able to pinpoint any changes in how I use the machine.

Most of the dumps seem to point to intelppm.sys --I'm not sure where to go from here.I have attached the output of the information DM log collector. I have gone through all the files and sanitized them to remove any sensitive personal information (according to me) but that shouldn't affect the integrity of the information.

Laptop not starting after a Lenovo system update

    I have a Lenovo Yoga 520 laptop

    Hi David,

    Welcome to our community.

This is Leocadia, independent community expert, and I am glad to assist you today.

Sorry to hear about this inconvenience. Now, we would like to help you promptly.

To fix fingerprint reader not working issue after Windows 10 Update , the first workaround you can try is to uninstall the Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro or Lenovo Fingerprint Manager, and then re-enroll your fingerprints. Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Open the Control Panel and find Programs.

Step 2. Click Uninstall a program under the Programs.

Step 3. Find Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro or Lenovo Fingerprint Manager in the program list, and then right click it to uninstall it.

Step 4. Click the Start button to open the Settings.

Step 5. Select Accounts in the Settings.

Step 6. Choose "Sign-in options" on the left. Scroll to Windows Hello and click Set Up in the Fingerprint section.

Step 7. Click Get started in the Windows Hello setup.

    Step 8. Enter your PIN.

Note: If you don't have a PIN, you need to set up one at first. Refer to this post: How to set up PIN code in Windows 10.

Step 9. Put one of your fingers on the fingerprint reader to scan it.

Step 10. Choose Add Another if you want to repeat the process with another finger, or you can choose to close the program.

Workaround 2. Update the Synaptics WBDI Driver Manually

According to some users, they suffered the fingerprint reader not working issue with the error message of "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)". This issue usually occurs after a Windows
OS update. It is caused by the conflict between the outdated drivers and the updated system. To troubleshoot such an issue, you need to update your Synaptics WBDI driver to the newest version.

To update the Synaptics WBDI driver manually, you need to uninstall the driver in the Device Manager firstly. Then find the updated driver in the Lenovo official website and download it. After you install the newest version of the Synaptics WBDI driver, the
fingerprint reader not working issue may be resolved.

However, some users rendered that they still failed to fix the issue after they installed the new Synaptics WBDI driver for their laptop models such as ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad P51. If you are one of these users, here is a tip for you. You can download
the 5.2.3527.26 version Synaptics WBDI driver at first. After the installation of 5.2.3527.26 driver is finished, download the latest 5.2.3531.26 version driver and install it. Many users have tried this method and it works.

Workaround 3. Use Driver Talent to Resolve Fingerprint Reader Not Working Issue

If you don’t want to update the Synaptics WBDI driver manually by yourself or you are just a computer novice, a reliable driver update tool like Driver Talent will be your good helper. It will find out all your outdated drivers quickly and automatically update
them to the newest version in minutes for your Lenovo laptop. Click the download button below to get Driver Talent and follow the easy steps to fix the issue right now.

Step 1. Launch Driver Talent and click the “Scan” button to scan your laptop.

Step 2. Click “Update” to update all your outdated drivers in the driver list. Driver Talent will automatically download and install the most suitable driver version for you.

Step 3. Reboot your laptop to have the update take effect.
