Windows 10: Laptop only turns on after multiple tries and different buttons being pressed, please help!

Hello, I have had this laptop for a few years now. It's updated completely to Windows 11 and it's a Predator PH315-53 laptop, for the past year or so I have been struggling to turn it on. The charging light comes on when plugged in, but it doesn't turn on whenever I press the power button. The only way I have managed to turn it on it takes me an hour or so is by pressing Ctrl Alt Del and then pressing the power button or by turning the volume up and down and pressing the power button, mind you I have to do it constantly for ages before it decides to turn on and sometimes I just give up. My laptop only turns on when I jumpstart it with the charger and press the power button multiple times

My laptop is 10 years old (Acer Aspire V5-573). The battery life (that should last around 6 hours) became poor over the past few years and it would die within 2 hours unless I had the charger plugged in. Ever since, I always used the laptop with the charger plugged in. However I recently replaced the battery with a new one and now the laptop is lasting up to 7.5 hours without the charger being plugged in.

However the problem I have noticed before and after I replaced the battery, is that my laptop would not turn on when I pressed the power button the first time, even when the battery was 100%. It would still not turn on when I connected the charger. It only turns on when I jump start it with the charger. The following are the steps I take to get the laptop to turn on:

1. Ensure the laptop is charged 50% or more.
   
2. Ensure laptop is unplugged from charger.
   
3. Press the power button. This would cause the power light to blink. However the laptop will not turn on.
   
4. Press the power button again. Power light does not blink this time. However when I connect the charger to the laptop, then when I press the power button, the power light does blink. When I press the power button again this time, the power light does blink and most of the time, it blinks each time I attempt to press the power button until the laptop finally turns on. Otherwise I disconnect and reconnect the charger. When the power light blinks, I sometimes have to press the power button more then 50 times, sometimes 20, sometimes 12 times, sometimes 9 times, sometimes 4 times, sometimes 2 times or 1 time before the laptop turns on. So it is random, but average 12 times.
   

Note that when I replaced the main battery, I replaced the CR2032 3v CMOS battery too, but it has not changed anything. I don't think there is a problem with the power button itself either, because it does eventually turn on the laptop and I can use the power button to shut down the laptop with ease.

Any else had this issue?

 

Xbox controller turns off after first button press

I have two xbox one controllers. Both have worked wonderfully until a few weeks ago. The controllers continue to work fine on a fresh boot. After putting my computer to sleep and then waking it up, the controller will turn off after I press a single button. Repro steps:

1. Put computer to sleep, then wake it up
   
2. Turn on controller with USB controller receiver plugged in
   
3. Wait as long as you want (note, controller stays connected)
   
4. Press any button on the controller (computer accepts input from single button, then controller turns off)
   
5. Repeat indefinitely until computer is restarted
   

Other confounding factors: If I have Windows event viewer or Device manager focused, I can press as many buttons on the controller as I like, and it will not turn off. The instant I focus another window, it turns the controller off.

Things I have tried:

• Uninstalled the one windows update that was installed around the time this started.
  
• Installed windows 10 21H2 update
  
• Uninstalled Xbox controller driver
  
• Uninstalled xbox accessories app
  
• reinstalled xbox accessories app
  
• checked for firmware updates in xbox accessories app
  
• use a different controller (I have two different controllers, both with the exact same behavior)
  
• Move the USB reciever to a different USB port
  

No matter what I try, this behavior persists until a reboot. Both controllers will then work perfectly until the computer goes to sleep, and the problem recurs.

 

laptop won't turn on

this is taking it a step further than the previous post, so ill do that and see what happens.

I believe i checked this , could be a different cable but ill double check.

Edit: oh and sometimes when i press and hold the power button the little green power button light will briefly turn on.
