Windows 10: Laptop pointer highs up sensitivity then stops, then turns normal, then repeats

My laptop's pointer increased sensitivity all of a sudden then does not respond to the touchpad, then turns normal, then repeats. What should I do to avoid this?

Laptop pointer too sensitive

The pointer on my Asus laptop suddenly became overly sensitive today. I changed the setting to the lowest sensitivity, but the pointer is still way too sensitive. I makes unselected windows come up constantly. Running Windows 10. Is there a fix for
this ? Help will be much appreciated. THANKS !

 

Sensitive pointer

When using the touchpad the pointer seems to be overly sensitive. I can pass the pointer over a link or page arrow in Edge and it will open or change the page quite often. It doesn't seem to do it when I use the wireless mouse I've this laptop a short time and still trying to figure everything out; is there a way to lower the sensitivity?

I understand that you are facing issues with sensitivity of Touchpad on your HP laptop, I will certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• What is the complete model number of the HP Pavilion laptop?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

As you have mentioned that the touchpad is too sensitive, we can try adjusting the sensitivity in Settings and see if that helps. To do this, go to
Start >> Settings >> Devices >>
Touchpad >> Taps >> Touchpad sensitivity, and select the type of sensitivity you want from the drop down list.



You can also try adjusting the pointer speed and see if that helps. To do this, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows logo key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type main.cpl and click on
   OK.
   
3. Click on Pointer Options tab.
   
4. Under Motion, adjust the slider for
   Select a pointer speed.
   
5. Click on OK.
   

You can also try updating the Touchpad drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
