Windows 10: Laptop restarting when lid is shut/sleep mode

My laptop will restart randomly both when I shut the lid and when it goes to sleep while still open. I'll have windows open and it goes to sleep after a while, but sometimes when I wake it the laptop will have restarted, all of my open windows will be gone. When I shut the lid it sometimes will do a restart and I'll see the screen turn on to the sign in screen with the laptop still closed, all of my open windows will be gone as well. Anyone know what's going on? Its a couple week old HP envy.

When close lid during shutting down, PC go into sleep.

Hello,
I've got a problem (or a feature ? Not so sure) that when I finish my work, I shutting down my laptop, while waiting it to be shut down, I close the lid.
The problem is when I close the lid, the laptop go into sleep mode, and when I back to work, I open the lid to press the power button and it resume the 'shut down' process.
This hasn't happen before, any suggestion ? Many thanks

OS: Windows 10 Pro (build 14393.693) 64bits

Unfortunately this has not helped but I have made some interesting observations for the past 2 weeks

My laptop still has this problem in both sleeping and hibernating

It won't sleep or hibernate fully when I press the buttons in the start menu which forces me to hard shut down my laptop

But closing the lid with a small amount of force allows the laptop to sleep

And when I boot it up in safe mode closing the lid hibernates the laptop

Any suggestions???

It's possible that your lid close action is configured to shut down your computer. To make sure your settings are properly configured, you can refer to the steps below:

• Right-click on the Start menu, then choose Control
  Panel.
• Change the View by: option on the upper-right-part of the screen to Small icons.
• Choose Power Options.
• Select your power plan (e.g. High Performance), then choose Change plan settings.
• Click Change advanced power settings.
• Go to Sleep settings, then disable hybrid sleep.
• Under Power Buttons and Lid, check if
  Sleep is chosen as action when lid is close.
  
• Hit Apply and OK.

If the lid close action is set to Sleep, we suggest checking if your drivers are up-to-date. When it comes to sleep mode issues, the driver related are network, chipset, and BIOS drivers. To update your drivers, you can refer to this
