Windows 10: Laptop running at 100% disk and CPU

Over the last couple of months my laptop have increasingly started being more sluggish on start-up, opening simple programmes and even when idling with no programmes opened by myself. Some days it maxes out the CPU others the disk but I would say it will usually max out the disk usage.I have tried a couple of fixes;Virus scanDefragmentInstall latest updates of windows and drivesThe only fix that had any effect was updating to the latest windows but after half a day it started maxing out the disk and CPU again but with the added problem of the laptop speaker crackling during playback of sound.A

In the Task Manager, under Performance tab, the disk utilization reaches to 100% due to which system became lagging and unresponsive. It started freezing in few moments and this keeps happening until disk usage reduces from 100%.

Control panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Processor Power Management > Maximum Processor state.

Also, once I start Chrome 64, it uses lots of cpu and ram to do absolutely nothing.

This is caused by a common combination of Skype as well Google Chrome. Similar issue with other programs could also cause 100% disk usage. To fix this do the following

Windows 10 100% disk utilization

I have a relatively new laptop (Christmas 2017) noticed that it was running slow. In Task Manager it is showing 100% disk utilization.

I have scoured the web and have tried all applicable fixes and have not resolved the issue.

this is maddening anyone have any suggestions

only 7% cpu, 40% memory 100% disk, 0% network

100% disk usage.

Summer has ended and my girlfriend booted her school laptop for the first time in months, only for it to be so unbearably slow that it took several minutes to log in. She handed it to me and said "fix it"... that was 3 days ago and now I am here to humbly
ask the community what is going on with this GD laptop.

It boots and task manager reports 100%CPU usage, it then lags for several seconds and displays 100%disk usage with CPU usage bouncing between 30-60%.

If you leave it alone with task manager running it will eventually quiet down to a reasonable 0-5% disk usage, but doing ANYTHING causes it to bounce right back to 100%.

I have tried EVERYTHING.

• disable superfetch.
• disable microsoft search.
• disable updates and suggestive tips.
• updated to the most current version of microsoft. (it hadn't been updated since 2018 when she bought it.)
• reconfigured AHCI PCIE.
• changed energy options.
• disabled indexing.
• reset the virtual memory.
• ran disk defragment and disabled all scheduling.
• updated all drivers.
• deleted google chrome.
• Disabled all services that weren't microsoft services and disabled all startup programs (clean boot).

Still no change in the disk usage.

Its an HP Laptop model 15-bw0xx with Windows 10 home edition version 10.0.18362

after messing with it this long im considering replacing the HDD with an SSD but I fear that it wont fix the issue.
