Windows 10: Laptop running Win 11 goes to sleep at about 1 am when on power when sleep timeout set to never

I have an ASUS SonicMaster laptop a few years old running Win 11 with the Power Plan sleep timeout set to Never when on mains power. However, the laptop sleeps when on power at about 1 am some hours after last laptop use but not at other times when I'm using it. The Display Driver is AMD Radeon TM RX Vega Graphics v 13.0.13044 10001 and I've tried removing it and replacing the driver to no effect. I have a removable USB drive plugged into the laptop and use the built-in Sunrise screen saver

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled.

I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.

I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing.

I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode .

Any suggestions? Jim

 

Win 10 Unattended Sleep Timeout - Same as Vista, Win 7,8[.1] ?


- Unattended Sleep Timeout key (introduced with Vista). Since the default timeout is 120 seconds, I changed that to prevent the PC from returning to Standby when it's running unattended overnight AV & MBAM scans.

Is this option still available in Win 10? With Win 7 > Control Panel > Power Options > Change when the computer sleeps > change advanced power settings, here's a screencap that illustrates my question:

Does Win 10 have the default 120-second timeout value present and can it be modified as with Win 7?

 

Windows 11, some applications seem to crash after laptop goes to sleep

Hello,

Currently whenever I close my laptop lid for prolonged periods (so the laptop goes to sleep) there seems to be some apps that seem to crash. They disappear completely from my desktop, or have to be forced to stop in task manager in order to restart them.

These apps are namely:

• Spotify
  
• Trello
  
• Whatsapp for PC
  
• WSL
  
• EarTrumpet
  

Wifi also seems to stop working after my laptop goes to sleep. I have to turn it off and on again to for it to work.

Steps taken to try fix issue:

• Restored to default power settings
  
• Ran power options troubleshooter
  

I am currently on the windows 11 insider program, in the Beta branch, and I am on the latest build at the moment

Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
