Windows 10: Laptop says locking if i turn it on and it's not plugged in.

so my HP Pavilion gaming laptop has been doing this for a while now maybe over a year.it would be fully charged, when i turn it on, it needs to be plugged in. i can safely remove it from charging after logging on to windows, but before that it needs to be charging or else it would show a "locking" blue screen and the the battery would deplete to zero.i've had the laptop since early 2019, yes it's become quite old but i don't think it's faulty. if it survives the boot without locking, it works fine for about 2 hours, which suits my needs.at first i thought it's an update issue so i didn't giv

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

• Unplug Laptop
• Remove the Battery
• Plug in Laptop and turn on the laptop
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and uninstall all instances of Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
• Shut down Laptop and unplug it
• Insert Battery and plug in the laptop
• Start the Laptop

If the battery is old it might have run its course but if that's not the can do the following to check what the problem

Computer laptop that is plugged in but not charging

• Shutdown the laptop
• Remove the battery ( note some batteries cannot easily be removed you may need to consult your laptop manual on how to remove them)
• Clean the battery and terminals with a dry clean cloth
• Put the battery back
• Turn on the laptop
• If it still say plugged in but not charging dont panick continue to follow more steps below

Welcome to Ten Forums I have an Acer Aspire 3 too, though mine has now upgraded to Windows 11. Many would give their eye teeth to be able to turn off that beep. *Biggrin This seems to be a uniquely Acer thing. All Acer laptops seem to make that beep when the power is connected/disconnected, and there is no obvious setting in Windows or the bios to turn this on or off. Following the trail of those trying to turn it off suggests this is where you need to look:

windows 10 - Disable beep sound when plugging/unplugging laptop charger - Super User In your case of course you need to make sure the Realtek HD Audio Manager is fully enabled rather than muted. I've tried it on my Acer Aspire and can confirm that muting the Realtek HD Audio Manager (or Universal Service as it appears in W11) does indeed turn of that beep, quite independently of all other system sounds or audio output. Settings has a quite different layout in Windows 11, but still has all the same settings as Windows 10. This is what I see in W11's Settings.
