Windows 10: Laptop screen and sound not showing up on tv and receiver after switching to another source...

To whom it may concern:I have a Dell Inspiron 7706 Windows 11 connected via HDMI to a Yamaha receiver. Thd receiver is connected to a tv via HDMI.I am using the tv as my main screen the laptop screen is off.When I initially turn on the receiver and switch to the laptop input, the laptop screen shows up on the tv and I can play laptop music Windows Media Player which is then heard through the receiver.However, when I switch the receiver input to, say, Cable or Xbox, and then switch the receiver input back to the laptop input, the tv screen becomes dark and there is no laptop sound coming

Connecting laptop to tv

So my old tv died and had to purchase a new one and the spec page lied about having a vga port (decide to keep the tv but got compensation for the issue).

I decided to connect my laptop using hdmi which works not to mention I guess the up side was being able to push the sound to my soundbar via hdmi as a bonus.

Now the downside is switching sources as I regularly switch between my roku/game consoles as well as my laptop, it seems switching back to my laptop leads to my screen showing static noise and not the picture until I turn the tv off and on again and I was wondering if there was an option to make it so when I switch sources that it would just go to the duplicated screen rather than requiring me to turn it off and on again to get a picture.

 

Device not found under Sound for playback from HDMI via TV...

How do I install the TV as a secondary source of sound...it is not listed when go into the Sound playback list to select...only the laptop speakers are listed... I think I deleted the TV speakers from the list by mistake..how do I get them back. Was having
problems with sound via TV and was trying different things but now I don't even have the TV listed as a source of sound..

 

Mirroring laptop screen to TV - works once only.

I found connecting to the TV hit and miss. I just did it and it took at least 6 tries. I found it sometimes makes a difference whether the laptop starts the connections first or the TV. All I can do is show how I do it and hope that helps.

BTW, my Samsung TV is ten years old and doesn't have Bluetooth. That is OK because I connect to my Samsung [BD]J6300 Blue-Ray player instead.

On the Blue-Ray player I open the Screen Mirroring app that comes with it.

On the laptop I open the notification area on the right side of the screen and...

• Turn on Bluetooth if it is not on
• Select Project
• On the bottom select Connect to a wireless display
• I then select [BD]J6300 from the list
• Within 30 seconds it will connect and display
