Windows 10: Laptop screen goes black when raised to 144hz and is the same in safe mode

Hello I've been having this trouble for a few months. When it first began I left my laptop idle and suddenly a horizontal line of flashing pixels appeared than the bottom half turned black. I only have two refresh rates given in the settings 144hz and 60hz. The 144hz option works on other monitors.60hz is fine on my laptop.All driver have been recently updated to 2023.I have done a full factory reset.And again it is the same in safe mode.The laptop is an acer nitro an515-55 intel i5 geforce gtx 1650. Not sure if this part is useful. * Moved from Community Center

Black Screen in Safe Mode

I'm trying to start my Win 10 VM but am getting a black screen with a cursor after it logs in so after looking for solutions online, there is a suggestion to remove the display drivers by using safe mode.

The problem is, safe mode also has a black screen!!

Are there any solutions to this? I have tried repairing, troubleshooting, restore etc from an ISO without success.

Windows is present in some form or another as it responds to ctrl-alt-del and provides me with the usual menu for Task Manager but when you select this, the Task Manager does not show and you are left with the same black screen as before!!

Anyone have any experience of this before?

We have Windows 10 installed on a Dell Laptop for months with only minor issues. All of a sudden it now only shows the black screen before Login. All the suggested fixes in other Posts don't help, even booting into safe mode only shows the black screen with
mouse Cursor.

I wonder if there is a way to remove the graphics Driver when in the repair mode command line?
