Windows 10: Laptop screen is freezing, will only work if I do a forced restart with the power button:...

My laptop continues to freeze up, just the whole screen freezes where it is but I can still see what is on the screen. It will run perfectly fine for variable amounts of time after the forced restart until it happens again. I am up to date on Windows updates and just updated my drivers as the following errors come up around the time of the system failure:WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.Module Path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\netwtw6e.inf_amd64_05bb65221939f713\IntelIHVRouter10.dllThe hypervisor did not enable miti

No restart option on the power button on my lock screen

The power option should be available on the sign-in screen.

If not :

• Press and hold the physical power button to force power off.
  
• Power on again and when windows has started press and hold the power button as before.
  
• Power on a third time and wait it should enter diagnostics and display the Troubleshoot menu.
  

 

Unable to get into desktop screen, but can get into with forcefull restart using power button.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to disconnect all he external devices connected to the computer and reconnect it. This is to check if the issue is conflicted to the external devices. Once you are boot to computer install
all the pending updates.

Also install all the Windows pending updates.

I suggest you to
install the updates again, and restart the computer.

Method 2: Try updating the display driver through device manager and check if it helps.

  Update driver software.

Since the computer freezes while botting and as it take too long time to boot to desktop screen, I suggest you to follow the below steps.

Method 3: follow the below step for
Fast startup to boot to the computer.

I suggest you to follow the Fast startup option Settings, if you are able to boot to the desktop screen.

Windows 10 started not powering off on shutdown or restarting

One of my laptops, the HP Elitebook 8460P with Windows 10 Creators Update, latest drivers and updates, started not power off on shutdown. It doesn't matter if I do a regular shutdown, Shift Shutdown, Restart, Safe Mode, "shutdown /s /t 0", it just goes through the steps and says shutting down services, then shutting down or restarting depending on which one I pick and does the bubbles in a circle and the mouse cursor still works and that's it. I have to hold down the power button to force it to turn off. Nothing shows up in the Event Viewer, I tried SFC & DISM /Restorehealth, chkdsk, and they all come up clean. I tried disabling Fast Boot and hibernation, and unplugging it and removing the battery and holding down the power button. There are no other devices connected to this laptop and it is the same hardware that it has had for over two years. I tried to rollback and then disabling the Intel Management Engine that I saw some people suggested, but there is no difference. There are no blue screens, no errors, nothing logged in Event Viewer, all hardware passes diagnostics, and everything else works just fine and it boots up quickly.

Any help on fixing this would be appreciated.
