    Laptop shows "Preparing to configure windows" when switched on, and lasts for hours before...


    Just as title says, not sure what I can do about this. My HP laptop displays "Preparing to configure windows, Don't turn off your computer" when I switch it on. It lasts for hours until I inevitably stop wiggling the mouse and it will switch off, and then do the exact same next time. Tried holding down the power button to restart, but not sure what else I can do. Can't do a factory reset of the laptop as I can never get that far. To make matters worse, my WiFi has changed since the problem started, so if the laptop is trying to do updates, it will not be connected. Please help!
