    Laptop shuts down 2 minutes after lid is closed despite "lid closed action = do nothing"


    ASUS Zephyrus G15 LaptopI have an external monitor plugged into my laptop and I would like to use it with the lid closed. Despite having it set to do nothing when lid is closed, the laptop shuts down 2 minutes after the lid is closed.

    I use a Dell Precision 5510 with windows 10 pro version 1909 with latest updates installed. I have been facing an issue since a month where when I close the lid of the laptop, the pc shuts down despite of the power settings set to 'go to sleep' when the
    'lid is closed'.

    Hi,

    I recently bought an Alienware M15 R7 Laptop. It is running Windows 11 Home. The issue I am facing is that, when I close the lid the laptop goes to sleep and when I open it it wakes up from sleep but when the laptop is left idle for few minutes after closing the lid, it force shuts down automatically even though my apps are running it closes and when I open the lid after few minutes, it boots up from the beginning.

    The closing lid settings is mentioned that when I close the lid the laptop must go to sleep. Tried disabling fast startup option. I have tried almost all the troubleshooting steps but still I am facing the issue. If anyone else has faced this issue and got it resolved kindly respond with the solution. Thank you.

    Closing my laptop lid

    I'm just the opposite, I disable hibernation and set lid action to do nothing for both plugged in or unplugged. Different strokes for different folks. *Wink Usually the only time I close my laptops lid is after shutting it down. Occasionally I move from one spot to another and don't want anything to happen. Not a big fan of sleep or hibernate.
