Windows 10: Laptop shuts down after being put to sleep - Ive tried everything, nothing works :

A while ago, my laptop started to shut down a little while after I put it to sleep. I've tried everything to solve it, I tried messing around in power and battery settings, the control pannels power options, I even tried the command prompt solution. Absolutely nothing works. Yes, my laptop is also up to date on Windows 11 updates. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

Laptop shuts down instead of sleeping

Hello

My laptop keeps shutting down when I want it to sleep. Closing the lid, pressing the power button (both are set to make it go to sleep) and clicking on the sleep button from the start menu all make it shut down and I only notice that it has shut down when I fire it back up and see that everything is closed. I've tried this but it doesn't do anything and it resets the value back to 20.

Your suggestions would be highly appreciated!

  What is the model number of the laptop?
  
• When you say ‘’trying 4 options to enable a shut down’’ which option do you exactly refer to? Are you using any third party software to shut down the computer?

Meanwhile, let’s try simple troubleshooting steps on sleep mode issue and check if this helps in resolving the issue.

Method 1

I recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the display adapter driver and check. Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Locate for display adapter and click on it to expand.
  
• 
  Right click on the device and click on
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic display adapter driver.
  

If this doesn’t help to fix the issue. I suggest you to update the display adapter driver. Skip step3 from the above steps and right click on the
device and click on update.

Method 2.

If the above method did not help to fix the issue, I would suggest you to
go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest display adapter driver. If the display driver is not available for Windows 10, try installing the available driver in compatibility mode and check.

  Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.
  
• 
  Select Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.
  
• 
  Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

Sleep issues?

I'm on OS Build 22000.434 of Win11, and have PC sleep issues. Here's the experience.

1. I'm working on my laptop. I step away for lunch.
   
2. Laptop attempts to go to 'sleep'.
   
3. When I come back, the screen is black. The 'red light' next to laptop camera is on and flickering, the FAN on the laptop is on full crank, and the laptop doesn't respond to any inputs. Moving the mouse, clicking, tapping the touch screen, typing on the keyboard. No response.
   
4. The only step left for me is to do a hard shut down by long pressing the power button.
   

This is just an observation if it helps, but it seems to happen more when I have apps left running on the desktop. (but who shuts down all their apps before stepping away from the PC to do something... like eat lunch?)

Anyone experience this? Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
