Laptop slows down after plugging ethernet cable in

Hi allA bit of a strange question here but my file explorer starts slowing down and lagging when I plug my ethernet cable into my laptop. I am currently running Windows 10, however I only started seeing this problem after running the BIOS update about 2 weeks ago on my HP Probook 450 G8. It's a relatively new laptop, running a core i3 11th Gen with 512 GB SSD installed. When I say laggy, I mean the navigation of file explorer is a bit slower and takes time to load. What's funny, is that this problem isnt here when I am back home and running my laptop on Wifi. Any suggestions?

    :)

  2. Ethernet cable not working.

You need to solve your problem one step at a time, e.g. like so:

    • Connect your CAT5 cable directly to your router. If it does not work, replace the cable.
    • Connect the cable to your TP-Link wall plug. If it does not work, reconfigure or replace the wall plug.

    Ethernet cable settings

    Hi Campbell,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Please reply to the follow questions to get a better understanding on the issue:

    • What is the model number of your laptop?
    • Do you have a yellow exclamation on the network icon after connecting the cat 7 cable?

However, you can follow the troubleshooting steps from
Fix network connection issues in Windows
    .

Also, I suggest you to check the laptop manual or laptop manufacturer to know whether the Ethernet port of your laptop supports cat 7 cable.

    Hope it helps.

Ethernet cable getting recognized only after uninstalling and re-installing the ethernet driver

Hello all. I have a laptop which came with Windows 11 installed. At first there were no issues but for the past week my Ethernet cable does not get recognized by my laptop. Following the steps I have seen here in similar questions, I unplug my cable, uninstall the Ethernet driver from the Device Manager, Scan for hardware changes (driver gets installed automatically), plug the Ethernet cable and everything works fine. Next time I open my computer the Ethernet might or might not get recognized. I have to do this task almost every time I open my computer. Any suggestions?
