Windows 10: Laptop sound coming through Sub and not speakers Windows 11

I have a new Acer Nitro and it is my first experience with Windows 11. Previously I worked on a desktop with windows 10 and had no sound issues.If I play music or in fact anything with words the sound tends to start ok but switches so that either all sound comes through my sub which sounds muffled OR the music carries on in my surround speakers and the words come out of the sub :-/ there only seems to be the option of a 1 x 3.5 jack to use for output.Treat me as a noob, All my drivers look to be up to date but they are updated through Windows 11I've been through Realtek nothing seems to match

Sound comes out of laptop instead of TV when viewing a DVD

Sorry everyone, I forgot to come back to say I solved the issue! I did it like this:

• Right-click speaker icon in the tray
• Click on "Sounds"
• Go go to the "Playback" tab"

There are two speaker devices listed:

1. Digital Output (with a TV icon)
2. Speaker/HP (my laptop speakers)

I disabled Speaker/HP, and then Digital Output automatically took over, which made the sound come out of the TV. Problem solved! Thanks for the suggestions and advice that helped steer me in that direction. *Thumbs

 

Using aexternal Speakers with Sub on a Laptop.

If it's attached by a standard stereo jack then the only control over the Bass and regular frequencies will be via a "crossover" in the speaker itself , this will send bass frequencies to the Sub, and others to the regular speakers

If your laptop has a full range output, this will be via multiple jacks. USB, or specialist socket(s), and the software to control what frequencies are fed to which output this will be in the laptop. The control will be at a set starting point and may have a variable control

I've just looked at the spec on your laptop and as there is not any specific specs of the sound output this would suggest that the sound output is a standard one rather than an advanced set up

 

No sound from Sub in 5.1 setup using Realtek

Installing this driver didn't make any difference, the sub is still not working.
Can you suggest anything else?
