Windows 10: Laptop Struggling after installing 2021 -01 to 04

I recently upgraded my laptop to 20h2. I did fins the start up a little sluggish.

However after updates KB4601505 and KB4023057 it takes at least 3 - 4 minutes for my laptop to shut down and restart to a point where it is responsive and CPU % returns to a normal level.

After updating to KB 4601554 and KB4589212 the same problem exists.

If there is no quick fix the only alternative I have is to reimage my laptop to a point prior to installation of 20H2.

Any thoughts / fixes?

Windows 10 Struggles With Updates.

My 9 year old Toshiba laptop, purchased in PC World, Dublin, in 2009, is struggling to install updates.

It was originally a Windows 7 machine but was force upgraded to Windows 10 about 2 years ago.

It has worked fine, even though I didn't ask for it, but lately it is struggling to install updates.

The process cuts me off outside of Active Hours, and freezes up my computer each time.

I then get messages like Preparing Automatic Repair, Diagnosing PC and Attempting Repairs.

This has been going on almost everyday since around Christmas.

Looking now at settings -updates it says as follows:

Updates are available

20180 -01 Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for X64 based systems KB4056892

Status: Awaiting restart

Also says device is due to start outside of active hours.

There is a box which says

Restart Now but when I click on that the laptop just restarts in the normal way - no update is

attempted.

I am driven mad at this stage with the problem.

Also, I am not very computer literate and would appreciate step by step instructions.
