Windows 10: Laptop stuck in tablet mode

My laptop has been going into tablet mode on its own, disabling the keyboard and mouse very frequently. Windows 11 does not have the manual tablet mode switch and the onscreen keyboard is a big handicap as I try to navigate ,y daily activities. How do I get it to stop doing this once and for all???

Posting this in case it helps others:

After doing this, my computer switched back into laptop mode after several minutes while using it. Later, I plugged it into my TV via HDMI, converted my laptop into a tablet, and after unplugging it was stuck in tablet mode again. I tried several things you have listed before, and what seems to kick my computer back into laptop mode is deleting the driver for my screen, restarting my computer, and letting it sit for several minutes.

Tablet Mode doesn't automatically turn on

Hi Roice,

We suggest you to follow the below steps to make the tablet mode permanent:

• Click start and select settings.
• Select settings and then select tablet mode.
• Now you have different options to choose from, please choose settings that suits you.

Let me help you with the problem of the Ctrl key getting stuck after switching to tablet mode on your laptop.



This is such a nagging problem that I went and checked the properties of this computer and normally it should only use the touch keyboard in tablet mode.



Please use the following methods to troubleshoot if it is caused by a hardware problem.

1. Switch the computer from laptop mode to tablet mode

2. Type "device manager" in the search, and open it in the search result.

3. Find the keyboard driver in the list of devices right click, select "Update Driver".

4. Select "Browse my computer for drivers".

5. Click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".

6. Do not select the keyboard driver, select other drivers and click "Next"





After complete the above steps, then check if the Ctrl key is stuck in tablet mode. If the problem disappears, the issue is a problem with the hardware itself and you are advised to contact the manufacturer of the changed device for help.
