  1. laptop touchpad sensitivity: in settings, no "devices"

HelloUsing a recently purchased HP laptop HP, running Windows 11. I am trying to reduce the touchpad sensitivity. The machine is almost unusable as is details below. In "Bluetooth and devices" there is no "touchpad" settings path. I have to use the touchpad because this device is intended for portable use.Unusable: about 33% of the time, an attempt to execute a single click results in 2 or more clicks being sent to the OS. Then, even the lightest accidental brushing of the pad, or using the drag facility un-optimally, can cause many different things to happen anything nearby might be sele

  2. Decrease Touchpad Sensitivity

    Hello Pete,

There is a possibility that you're experiencing this issue due a touchpad driver problem. For us to efficiently assist you, we would like to ask a few questions:

    • Could you tell us what is the make and model of your device?
    • Have you tried updating the touchpad driver on your device? If not, we suggest that you update it by following the steps
here on how to update drivers in Windows 10.

Meanwhile, we advise that you try the steps provided by Pawan Dhondiyal in this
article on how to adjust the touch sensitivity of your device.

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. Touchpad Sensitivity

There are two places to adjust touchpad sensitivity on Windows 10 and my Lenovo laptop. One is Settings/Devices/Touchpad/Touchpad sensitivity/Most sensitive to Low sensitivity. The other, beginning on the same page where this adjustment can be made, is
also Additional settings/Mouse Properties/Settings/Advanced/Sensitivity/Heavy Touch to Light Touch.

    - Which one should be used to adjust touchpad sensitivity? Why?

    - Does one setting override the other? If so, which one? If not, which setting place prevails, since a setting in one place does not change the setting in the other.

    - Do they do different things relating to sensitivity?

Touchpad settings disappeared when I tried to download

    Hi Roy,

Thank you for the details and sorry for the delayed response.

I suggest you to set the touchpad sensitivity to Balanced from the settings which might fix the issue. Follow the steps below.

    • Press Windows key + X and select Control panel.
    • Search "Mouse" from the search bar towards the top right corner.
    • The Mouse Properties window will open.
    • Click the "Device Settings" or "Touch Pad" tab, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. If you have a "Device Settings" tab, you will then need to click on your touchpad from the list of devices and click "Settings."
    • Click the "Touch Sensitivity" button, or select "Sensitivity" from the list that appears on your screen, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. Drag the slider in the middle of the window to the left to make your touchpad more sensitive, and drag it
to the right to make your touchpad less sensitive. The effect will be immediate, so you can drag and release the slider, and then test the touchpad and drag the slider again until you have found a sensitivity setting that works for you.
    • Click "OK" at the bottom of the window to close it and save your changes.

    Hope this helps.
