Windows 10: Laptop trackpad all of a sudden stopped working. External USB mouse works.

Hi all,


I was browsing the web, when all of a sudden my mouse trackpad stopped working. The pointer just froze. I tried to restart my laptop, and this made the pointer completely disappear. Also, when I restarted the computer, it put me back through part of the Windows first-time installation screen, which I had to navigate with the keyboard. The left and right click buttons also do not work.


I then plugged in a USB mouse, which I sometimes use and which is working fine to allow me to ask this question.


I've tried pressing all the FN key combinations to see if I disabled it accidentally. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, I've tried using an older version of the ELAN driver. Nothing seems to bring the trackpad functionality back. It's certainly not hardware - or at least I doubt it. This computer is less than a month old and I've never spilled anything on it.

Mouse in USB and trackpad not working

This is two problems that I tried looking for answers first but couldn't find nothing relating to my problem.

I mostly play minecraft and the mouse on the trackpad/touchpad messes up because when I move the mouse on the TOUCHPAD freezes everytime I move and I plug in my external mouse and it doesn't work right. I list the problems with some stories organized.

USB port:

So I mostly only have one Working I mostly use an external mouse on it and this USB port doesn't work as well because I plug my mouse in and works for a couple of minutes like maybe 10 and it stops completly and I started blowing into it and it worked for
another 10 but recently that method started to work less and less and it got me tired because I keep trying. So how can I repair this once and for all?

Touchpad/Trackpad:

On the Touchpad it works well with a few flaws because when I move in minecraft and try to move touchpad, it freezes but I did get it fix because I found an answer but I have another problem that I couldn't find and that was when I move and try to click
the left button on touchpad at same time it freezes and I can find anything on internet or on laptop that could help me to fix it so I decided to ask on here. So how can I fix this problem as well?

Trackpad stops working on Windows 10

Old title: Trackpad stops working

I have an Asus laptop running on Windows 10. The built in trackpad works for a couple minutes after turning it on, but then it goes dead. I have an external mouse that works, so I'm not totally screwed, but it's really frustrating because I can never use
the trackpad because it will stop working after a couple minutes of use. Please help!!!
