Windows 10: Laptop Trackpad not working, not recognised in device manager, not even in advanced startup.

Laptop : MSI gf63 9SCMotherboard : MS16R3I needed some help with my laptop. So after updating to windows 11 stable build, my trackpad started to randomly stop responding, but the external mouse always worked. So, when i went to device manager, there were 4 different kinds of mouse drivers. So, keeping the standard ps/2 and the external mouse's hid driver, i removed the else 2. After then, I restarted my laptop and since then my trackpad stopped working, i can't see the standard ps/2 mouse drivers even in device manager and the windows settings doesn't even recognise it. Lenovo S740 - Trackpad not working

Hi I'm in urgent need of my trackpad working because tomorrow is the day of a college exam which requires me to bring my laptop without a mouse.

I've just (3 hours ago) installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 1709 .

I've since used Windows Update to update to Windows 10 1909.

I thought Windows Update would provide the trackpad drivers but it didn't.

I've tried to download and install the provided trackpad drivers off the lenovo website but it didn't work. Here's the link to the download page for the drivers laptops and netbooks :: yoga series :: yoga s740 14iil - SG. But it didn't work also.

Things I've also tried:
"Scan for hardware changes" in device manager.
"Show hidden devices" in device manager.

Many online forum posts suggested to change a setting in my BIOS, but I couldn't find it.

trackpad not working

No. Because the troubleshooting guide on device manager wont even resolve my solution as it is also a basic and one of the primary steps to do but no avail. Tried installing powerplan7 and trackpad++ suggested by relentless on apple forums but with
no success for me. Until now i can't use windows 10 installed on my macbook pro 15inch late 2008 because of the trackpad/touchpad failure.

 

Odd Trackpad Behaviour

Windows 10 ver 20H2. SONY VAIO laptop with Samsung 860 SSD, 4GB RAM.

Initially, the laptop worked fine. Recently an odd problem has surfaced.

I prefer to use a wireless mouse (Logitech V450 Nano) which behaves as expected. However, the laptop's own trackpad is (for want of a better word) is 'inverted'.

To explain: Move finger UP the trackpad (towards the keyboard) and the cursor moves DOWN. Move your finger RIGHT on the trackpad and the cursor moves LEFT.

Searches suggest changing some settings under Trackpad in Device Manager, however, looking in Device Manager there is no entry for Trackpad - only two entries for mouse: HID-compliant Mouse and PS/2 Compatible Mouse.

There are 3 possible trackpad entries in Human Interface Devices:
HID-compliant consumer control device
HID-compliant vendor-defined device
HID-compliant vendor-defined device
but delving into the properties of each, none seems to be for the trackpad.





In Settings > Devices there is no entry in Trackpad for inverting the trackpad





So, I'm rather stumped.

Any help gratefully received.
