  1. Laptop using built-in microphone instead of earphone mic

I'm having a recent issue after I reset my laptop. After I reset my laptop, it started to use my laptop's built-in microphone instead of the microphone on my earphones. I have tried many possible solutions such as re-installing my audio drivers but that didn't work. For added detail, my earphones also don't show on recording devices on sound settings. I am not sure if it is meant to be there. Any sort of help is appreciated because whenever I'm on call with my friends, they can just hear me typing and other unnecessary noises.

    :)

How to use the built-in laptop mic instead of earphones' mic?

Hello, I am currently using a laptop with a dual audio port (one for audio output and one for audio input - microphone). Last week I bought the HyperX Cloud Earbuds, its mic worked perfectly on my mobile phone but didn't work as well on the laptop. I bought
a audio splitting cord/adapter but the quality was still far from itself on the mobile phone. I guess the Earbuds is just not entirely compatible with PC.

For the reasons above, I would like to know if there is a way to use the laptop's built-in microphone instead of earbuds, because I still want to listen to the sound from the earphones but its mic is just not very usable. I got into the Settings but at the
Input section I can only see one option which is "Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio)". I looked up for solutions on the internet as well but so far none of them worked.

How to use the built-in laptop mic instead of earphones' mic?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand that you want to use Built-in Laptop mic instead of the Earphones mic.

One of the things you can do is to change the default device Recording device from the Sound Control Panel and see if that helps. Please refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + R, to open
      Run
      dialog box.
    2. Type mmsys.cpl and click on
      OK
      .
    3. Now, click on Recordings tab.
    4. Right click on the device that you want to use, select
Set as Default Device and Set as Default Communication Device.
    5. Now, click on OK and check if the issue persists.

However, we would like to know the model number of HyperX Cloud Earbuds that you are using. We would also like to know if the HyperX Cloud Earbud work on any other computer.

    You may also refer the

    Let us know the results.

Enable Built-in Microphone even if earphones (without mic) is plugged in combo jack

I use a Lenovo Ideapad 300 and it has a built-in microphone and a combo jack. The problem is that the earphones I am using right now has no microphone.

My question is how do I enable the built in microphone even if I connect my earphones (Without mic) in the combo jack?
