    Laptop Wi-Fi gets connected to 2.4 GHz Instead of 5 GHz Band.


    Dear Microsoft Community, This is Gavin Mathos & using latest Windows 11 - 24H2 OS on My Dell Laptop.I am using ISP povided Wi-Fi 6 / IPV6 enabled router which automatically switches between 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz Band. Everytime when I start My Laptop It gets automatically connected to 2.4 GHz Band. Then 4-5 times I have go to "Wi-Fi - Wi-Fi Name - Disconnect", then again "Wi-Fi - Wi-Fi Name - Connect". After doing for this 4-5 times then Wi-Fi gets connected to 5 GHz Band.What can be the reason behind this??? I just want My Laptop Wi-Fi Internet to get connected to 5 GHz Band. Please assist

    Can't connect laptop to 5 GHz home wi-fi. Does my laptop support 5 GHz wi-fi?

    It makes no difference to Windows what frequency band you use, because the frequency band is a function of your LAN, not Windows.

    To use the 5 GHz frequency band, you need three elements:

    1- a router that supports the 5GHz band;

    2- a WiFi adapter that supports the 5 GHz band; and

    3- a Windows 10 driver for your WiFi adapter.

    If you have #1 and #2, the next step is to select the SSID of your 5 GHz band when you connect to your LAN. If doing this doesn't let you connect, you have to check that you have #3. If you do, and you;re still having problems, you need to contact the manufacturer
    of your WiFi adapter.

    Windows 10 does not see 2.4 GHz Wi Fi

    I have an HP Elitebook 4500 series laptop that had Windows 7 and a dual band wi-fi card. I could use my home 2.4 GHz connection or my 5 GHz connection which is not as good. Once I upgraded to Windows 10, the laptop will now only see and use the 5 GHz
    connection. Sometimes it is good but most of the time it is not. I want to use the 2.4 GHz connection but the laptop does not see it nor can I find it manually. Every other device I have works perfectly.

    Is there any way to fix this? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
