Laptop will do nothing after the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5034122 update of 1/12/24. This is a Lenovo Ideapad Z580 with Intel Core i5 chip, which worked fine up until the update ran. Computer will turn on/off and the display turns on. But get nothing else. No home screen, just blank green screen. It doesn't seem like the computer is trying to boot anything. I say this because on/off is almost immediate. Feels like nothing is loading or shutting down. Keyboard does not work, no curser. Can't try some of the things I've read about forcing a

Why would an in-place Upgrade solve this problem? I did all the steps listed here but not the in-place update. The error I see in the Windows update window is "Download error - 0x8024401c" for 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023706). Its been logging this error since 3/17/2023

Note that on 2/15 everything seemed fine:

2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022845)

Successfully Installed on 2/15/2023

2023-02 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5022497)

Successfully Installed on 2/15/2023

 

Error 0x80092004 | 2023-02 Cumulative Update for .Net Framework 3.5, 4.8, and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 (KB5022729)

The .NET Framework 4.8.1 February cumulative update, KB5022498 will not install. This is an issue only occurs after installing the .NET Framework 4.8 February cumulative update, KB5022502, then upgrading to .NET Framework 4.8.1 then scanning for updates.

Applying the following steps will allow KB5022498to be installed:

• Uninstall 4.8 February update (KB5022502 )
  
• Run command from elevated Command Promp: dism/online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup
  
• Scan for windows update again, 4.8.1 February update (KB5022498) installs as expected.
