    Laptop will freeze unless I put it in sleep mode and wake it back up


    When my computer starts after a restart or shut down, it freezes at the login screen, absolutely nothing works. I cannot type or move the cursor. Only safe mode works fine.


    on accident I left it there and it went into sleep mode, when it woke back up it started working fine again. However this freezing problem persists and the only temporary fix is to put the computer into sleep mode by pressing the power button and waking it up.


    how can i fix this permanently?


    I already tried a factory reset and the problem persists.

    system freezes up in sleep mode, one monitor on and the other a sleep. Can not wake up system without hard reboot. Any suggestions?

    For us to narrow down your concern with waking up your computer from sleep mode, we would like to know the following:

    • Aside from Windows Update. were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue?
    • Is this the first time you experienced the issue?
    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Send us a screenshot of your screen when you wake up your computer from sleep mode.

    Restart when waking laptop from sleep mode


    When I wake my HP laptop from sleep mode, it says there is a problem and needs to restart. Then it restarts. It didn't do this until I upgraded to Windows 10. Anyone else have this problem or have suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you for any assistance.
