Windows 10: Laptop will not display list of avalaible WIFI networks

I am on the cusp of moving out and getting my own wifi network set up, however I have found that I have been unable to even view new wifi networks let alone change to a different one on my laptop. Everytime I click on the wifi symbol in the lower left corner the wifi network box tries to load for 5 seconds then automatically closes without displaying anything. Please help, my entire life depends on getting being able to swap to whatever wifi network is avalaible at the time and this BASIC failure of the software that is preventing that is making me seriously panic.

Laptop won't show list of available networks

We suggest checking the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your laptop.

Please follow these steps:

• Click the Windows logo.
• Go to Settings (gear icon).
• Select Network and Internet.
• Then Wi-Fi.
• Make sure the Wi-Fi radio button is On.
• Select Show available networks, then you'll be able to see the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

Unable to see a specific WiFi Network in list

I have Windows 8.1. I can see the WiFi networks of everyone in the vicinity. However, am unable to see the WiFi network installed in my home.

The WiFi Network that am unable to see is a new connection. This new connection is seen by all devices (Mobiles etc) but it is.not getting displayed in my Windows 8.1 list.

I have seen other threads on the issue which recommend checking WLAN Autoconfig etc. And have tried those steps too. But there is no change in the outcome.

Can anyone please suggest any solution that migjt work. I am not willing to format my Laptop.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Can't display list of available wireless networks

I followed those steps; no effect. I can see from the diagnostics that the signal strength for multiple networks is strong and my own laptop is fine.

I also tried a usb wifi card i had spare; it installed it fine but the part of windows that displays the available network connections still will not display.

I presume that particular module is bugged.
