Windows 10: Laptop will not shutdown after Microsoft windows11 latest upgrade KB5043076 on version 23H2...

After installing Microsoft windows 11 latest upgrade KB5043076 on version 23H2 two days ago on the 12/09/2024 I tried to shut down my laptop the machine powered down then immediately restarted. The only way it can be shut down is by holding the power on/off switch down for 5seconds or more.. It seems as if the windows shutdown button is acting as a restart button.

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s okay if you only have 1).

7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.

When the ISO file completes downloading

Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the upgrade option.
