Windows 10: Laptop with windows 10 going blackscreen when pressing any key before login

I have a msi gf63 thin 95c with windows 10 installed for over a year now and never had any problems with it, however when i tried logging in today i saw the regular homescreen but when i press any key or click with my mouse i get a black screen with only a cursor and nothing else. After a minute or so it reverts back to the regular homescreen but when i try pressing any key it happens again, the same happens when i try to drag the screen up with my mouse to get to the screen where you can enter your password.

note: I am not using any external monitors or keyboards just a mouse. I also started playing vr with the oculus quest 2 yesterday and i don’t know if that may have caused this?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

@dhievm go ahead and list the model number that gives exact specs/info.


Does it stop right at the Toshiba logo and sit there? Will it sit forever til you press a key, or will it eventually work after so long?
