Windows 10: laptop won’t boot past acer startup and freezes / black screen in automatic repair mode...

so, i have the acer aspire es 15, but i switched the hard drive from my dell to the acer a couple years ago for my sims 2 since i didnt have a thumb drive. windows 10 btw


anyhoo, i play sims and it was laggy and my disk was 100% usage in task manager so i watched a video about scanning and repairing the hard drive to help with disk usage so i did it.


scanning and repairing went perfect, it was like 4-5 hours but it finished, then took me to the desktop and everything loaded besides my programs, so my control panel / factory programs were on the desktop but nothing in the task bar etc. i got a small error pop up saying the desktop was corrupted or something, i didnt really read it since i was just tired and thought it would be fine if i restarted my laptop. also i forgot to mention, i was able to see all my programs fine when i tapped on the windows start button. just not on the desktop.


i restarted it, and now itll be in the boot screen with acer and start loading, but after a minute or two the loading circle will freeze, or when i turn it on itll be in the acer preparing auto repair starting screen, then itll go to a frozen black screen and i cant do anything, i wasnt even able to go to recovery mode / alt + f10/f11. i am only able to go to BIOS.


idk, im sad cause i want to play sims and i want to see if i can somehow fix this, i dont know why my laptop broke because of the scan and repair.

laptop doesnt boot automatically

This is what happened.

1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

Black screen after ‘preparing automatic repair.’

Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately, I don’t know if it’s my doing something wrong, but I’ll do the steps to boot up the ASO menu and it won’t appear. I’ll reboot three times and leave it to load at the third, but it will do the same as before except for one thing- load for a while, then seemingly reboot on its own quickly (which it didn’t do before the ASO reboots), before going directly into ‘preparing automatic repair’ followed by the black screen shortly after. Same as before, leaving the black screen alone won’t do anything.

 

Windows 10 commonly boots to a black screen with no cursor?


Has activation been a known issue with a black screen at boot? (I needed to boot into Windows 7, restart, and then boot into Windows 10. Startup repair says it isn't compatible with this version of Windows, safe mode freezes at "Please Wait", and no other repair options have allowed me to boot past a black screen. Just thought I'd put it out there, since I tried it *Huh)
