Windows 10: Laptop won’t display anything, how do I fix this?

I closed my laptop earlier today and did not power it off. When I returned to my laptop a couple hours later it was not displaying anything and the screen was off despite the light of the power button showing and the fan moving. I force powered off my laptop and turned it on to come to the automatic repair screen. The laptop could not automatically repair anything and so gave me advanced options. I tried every single option, even resorted to re-setting my laptop but keeping my files but still this did not work as it said it failed to do so. Whilst on a search for more options I may have accide

Hp laptop screen won’t display except occasionally

I would like to note that step 20 comes up with no files. Perhaps this could be the source of the issues?

OK. Now I know what ur problem is. Step by step:
1. Go to Catalyst Control Center
2. Click on the word "Graphic" right on top left corner. It will display drop down menu
3. Click on Display monitor and will see the list of monitor at near bottom
4. Right Click the monitor and select "Configure". It will show up the window
5. There will be 3 option to select. Select the middle one and then click on the tab which show the bar with 15%.
6. Drag the bar to max, and the screen will stretch to the native resolution 1680x1050.
7. Also click the tab with showing RGB drop down list and select the last one (it will change to image quality for pc).

How do you know its the display that's bad?

Should get you to step by step instructions. But first make sure its the display that's bad
