Windows 10: Laptop Won’t Turn On Without Adapter Despite Full Battery – Need a Fix

When I press the power button on my 3-year-old laptop, the power LED blinks 5 times, but the laptop doesn’t turn on, even though it’s fully charged. It only turns on when I plug in the adapter. However, after turning on, the laptop lasts around 2 to 2.5 hours on battery charge.The battery capacity has significantly reduced over time, from the original 48,004 mWh to 26,996 mWh at 100% charge.Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

few hours ago i turned the laptop off by going to start menu, shut down, on an xp machine. the computer shut down normally but now when i try to turn it back on, nothing happens for a good 30 seconds then the HDD lights and power lights come on for a few seconds then turn off.

it's weird becasue, from what i have seen, the lights usually come on right away then turn right off (in similar situations) but this thing doesn't even try to turn on for a bit. What could be wrong?

things i have tried:
-removed RAM, battery, wireless card, HDD... nothing happens
-held power button for 10 seconds with battery in and out of machine while and while nt plugged in
-Different power adapters

i am going to check the cmos battery but if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

this is taking it a step further than the previous post, so ill do that and see what happens.

I believe i checked this , could be a different cable but ill double check.

Edit: oh and sometimes when i press and hold the power button the little green power button light will briefly turn on.

 

laptop battery wont charge after latest update

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s okay if you only have 1).

7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.
