Windows 10: Laptops Displaying Multicoloured or White Screen when Waking from Sleep. Updates/Driver...

Hi,

I use the Microsoft Windows 10 ISO to reformat a lot of laptops with new Windows 10.
Recently, I have been getting a lot of laptops Acer and HP where after performing all new Updates, the screen will not wake from sleep mode.
Instead, it will display either a white screen, or fuzzy screen with multicolours everywhere.

This also happens when pressing start or closing the lid.

The only fix that I can find for this issue is to disable sleep when on battery/power and when closing lid or pressing power button.

After searching these forums I have found that a lot of other users have been experiencing this issue and it appears to be a recent Windows Update that is also attempting to update the graphics drivers and it is installing an incorrect graphics driver.

Since updating Windows 10 to the 'Fall Creators Update' (1709), I have a problem when the PC wakes from sleep.

Waking from sleep, the display flashes "white screen blank screen."To solve the problem, I have to manually restart the PC.

The PC behaves perfectly provided that I do not allow it to go to sleep.

This problem did not exist before I updated Windows 10 to version 1709.

I did the following steps that was the answer to a similar question but the solutions did not work

Solution 1: Run Power troubleshooter

• Open Settings.
  
• Click Update & security.
  
• Click Troubleshoot in the left pane.

Solution 2: Update Display adapter

• Open Device Manager.
  
• Double-click Display adapters to expand.
  
• Right-click the Display adapter, then click Properties.
  
• Go to Driver tab.
  
• Click Update driver.
  
• Restart your computer
  
• If the issue still persists, repeat steps 1-4.
  
• Click Uninstall, then restart your computer.
  

Solution 3: Change Sleep options for mouse and keyboard

• Open Device Manager.
  
• Double-click Keyboards to expand.
  
• Right-click the keyboard driver, then click Properties.
  
• Go to Power Management tab.
  
• Check Allow this device to wake the computer option.
  

 

White screen with dots when computer wakes up from sleep in Windows 10

ASUS Laptop Won't Wake from Sleep Mode

Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
2. Updated all drivers
3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
4. BIOS latest version
5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel
