Windows 10: Laptop's fans spin up when idle

Why do my laptop's fans spin up after screen turns off when it goes idle? When woken up, it stabilizes in a few minutes and is silent again as if some service stopped and it cooled down.This was happening on all my windows laptops in the past, it's not exclusive to my latest model XPS 13 9310 Windows 10 Pro.It's super annoying. I want my laptop to be super cool and super silent when I am not working on it. It's very annoying.How can I disable this behavior?

Laptop fan spins up to max for no obvious reason

As stated above.

In viewing task manager I tend to see nothing obvious that could be the cause though occassionally something like below occurs.



Once the fan gets going it doesn't appear as if it will stop until I shut my laptop down fully.

Checked my fan physically and no dust.

Replaced thermal compound between cpu and heat sink.

Scanned with windows defender and malwarebytes to find nothing.

Appears to ramp up randomly. Played an intensive game without issue.

I figured it might be related to using my browser - Mozilla. Deleted all history/cookies etc, switched to edge.

Tried to eliminate as many programs to find anything to the point of resetting win10.

Not sure what to do now. Any ideas?

Disconnecting from internet = no change

Process explorer = 97-99% idle

Checking BIOS version = most up to date

Sent in support ticket - Awaiting response

Acquired SpeedFan - Unable to add any fan controller

Acquired NoteBook FanControl - Able to target fan speed in steps of 25%. Will spin up to max at any stepping other than 0%. Appears as if tilting my laptop can set the fan off to max. Currently using 0% target fan to bring it back down.

I have an issue with different laptop brands loaded windows 10 and windows 11.

The fan spins terribly for a longer time while working on a spreadsheet or outlook, basically list resources consumed.

This has nothing to do with low ram or low hard drive space.

The same issue happens just after logging on to the laptop.

I suspect this could be a windows update bug, I am not really sure I would like to check if anyone has experienced the same issue and solution.

The laptop fans should only spin up when a component needs to be cooled.

Open Task Manager, then select the Processes tab.

Leave Task Manager open to monitor your system, when the fans spin up, is the CPU, GPU, RAM or Disk at a very high percentage, if so, please provide a screenshot of the Processes tab.
