  1. Large Failed File Transfer Has Filled Up Hard Drive

I was trying to copy a large group of files from a old Netgear Stora network storage device onto a new USB attached drive. It chose to prepare a massive Zip file of all the files and then, after several hours, failed trying to transfer it.

When I rebooted my PC I found that my system hard drive - which hitherto had 1/3 free of 500 Gb - was now completely full.

I'm sure that this is because the OS was using some temporary files or cache to effect the file transfer, and had not cleared it up.

But for the life of me I can't find where it is!

I have run Window System Clean-Up with System files selected but that doesn't do it. I have looked for Large Files in Windows Explorer but that doesn't show it.

Where is it; and how do I get rid of it?

    :)

  2. Hard drive filled with invisible files.

My C:\ drive, which holds the Windows 10 OS, programs data/files and a little bit of user data, shows that I have used roughly 600gb of space (first image below) on a 1TB SSD. When I use WinDirStat to see what's on that drive, it shows that I have about 120gb of data on it (second image). Could someone kindly suggest what could be taking up 480gb of space—and why it is invisible to WinDirStat. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  3. transferring large files, really large, from a failing external drive to a location on my computer and/or to one drive

How do I transfer the contents of a failing external drive, really large folders, to a location on my computer and/or to one drive? I've tried copy and paste, on the advice of a chat support tech, and it doesn't work. Nothing happens. I want to do the transfer
before the external drive fails completely and I've lost access to it. My computer is operating on Windows 10.
