Windows 10: Large folder has disappeared on my external hard drive

I have an external drive of 8TB 7.27TB. It has 1.30TB of free space. I had 11 main folders but one has disappeared and there is now only 10 folders which account for 1.10TB of space. The 11th folder was the largest which took up nearly 5TB Video. My PC clearly shows that the data is still on the disk but I cannot find it. The Drive shows up as being healthy. I have tried search for misplaced shortcuts, error checking there are no errors, and checkdsk came back clear but have not had any luck. We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

• When did the files start to disappear?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
• Did you make nay changes on the settings of your PC or hard drive prior to this issue?
• Are you getting any error messages when trying to plug in your external drive?
• Does your external drive shows that the space is consumed?

External Hard Drive/New Volumn

Thank you for getting back to me and providing me with an update on the situation. I'm sorry to hear that you have already tried the steps that I recommended and are still experiencing issues with ejecting the external hard drive.

Regarding the screenshot you shared, I can see that there are two E volumes, which is unusual. It's possible that the issue is caused by a conflict between these volumes. You may want to try the following steps to troubleshoot this further:

> Disconnect the external hard drive and check if both E volumes disappear from the list.

> Reconnect the external hard drive and check if both E volumes reappear.

> Try ejecting the external hard drive using each of the E volumes and see if one consistently works better than the other.

> If one E volume consistently works better than the other, you can try renaming the other E volume to avoid confusion.

Regarding the set of numbers in the folder below the art folder, that is likely a folder used by the Windows Installer. It's not necessarily an indication that you need to redo Windows, but it's possible that there are some issues with your Windows installation that are contributing to the issue with your external hard drive.
