Windows 10: Large grey block letters scroll across the bottom of my screen as I type

    Large grey block letters scroll across the bottom of my screen as I type


    This morning I was doing some searching on a couple of forums. When I was typing in the search bar, the same thing I was typing was appearing at the bottom of the window in the form of grey blocks for each letter (even a Space). I've never seen this before and I have no idea how it was turned on, but it was kind of handy as my eyes aren't the greatest and some of those search boxes can be very small. Does anyone know what this is and how to turn it off/on. It happened twice and now I can't replicate it. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

    find music quickly shows all letters "greyed out"

    same problem here. i encounter the problem in all lists (songs, albums and artists). the only letter not greyed out and actually clickable is '#'.

    notice: to access the alphabet-quick-access (analogous to iphone's alphabet list on the right hand sight of the screen), click on a coloured letter in the list view above the first song/album/artist with a new letter

    Annoying letter blocks the view when scrolling music list in 5800

    Ever since the firmware update for my 5800 approximately half a year ago, there's an annoying box showing the letter of the alphabetic location in the list. However, it is not really useful, because it only shows the first letter, and I have approximately
    500 songs in there, so I need to go by the second letter, which, however, not is shown in that annoying box, and it blocks the view so it's hard to see the songs in the list in order to see what second letter I'm located at. Thus, I have to look at what remains
    to be seen of the list above or below the box. It works, but it would be much easier if that annoying box could be deactivated. I hoped it would be fixed in subsequent firmware updates, but apparently it hasn't changed.



    So, how to deactivate this annoying thing?
