  1. Large icons for non-UWP shortcuts?

    Somewhat related to my other thread about getting a Desktop icon on the full-screen start menu, but sort-of not.

    I was experimenting with creating web shortcuts on the start menu that open with Internet Explorer rather than Edge (this was totally doable in Windows 8 using the "Metro" IE, but not anymore). Per a suggestion I had found, I created a shortcut to iexplore.exe Google for example as a shortcut to Google.

    So I grabbed a giant (1600x1600) Google logo and converted it to an .ico. You can see in my screenshot here:

    But yet, when I "pin to start" it still displays using a small icon - the exact same size as the "small" tile size, just with a border around it for "medium".

    Is there a way to get rid of that border and show a larger icon without the use of a UWP "helper" app? I know there are Windows Store apps like EdgeTile and WinTileR that can do this, but the caveat there is that you have to install them and clutter up your start menu even more. (It's not possible to hide shortcuts for a Store app or even move them into a folder or anything, is it?)
    Not to mention in order to prevent them popping up a window whenever you click the shortcut you need a "plugin" for it.

    I'd like to do this without installing extra software if at all possible - maybe via registry tweaking, or something.

    But I'm not sure if this is some sort of OS limitation - even with Windows Store apps like DVD Player, you can set them to "large" and still only have a tiny icon surrounded by a giant border! What's the point of that?!

    :)

  2. Calling UWP Bluetooth Radio class operation in non UWP library

    hi;

    We have an existing WPF application that cannot be migrated to UWP. I have seen that it is possible to use UWP libraries in NON UWP projects. I was able to put together a non UWP library accessing the Radio object. Though it compiles ok I am not seeing any
    Results returned. I was not able to setup the operation to use async directly. Was getting an error indicating await was not defined for the interface returned by the GetRadioAsyn() function. There is a GetResults operation on the returned result and I was
    thinking this would perform an async call on the operation, but it appears not to.

    I would like to know how I caould configure a NON UWP project to call the Radio class functions, and/or if it could be explained how to get async to work when including the UWP libraries (into the non UWP project).

  3. Issue when installing Safety Scanner

    Are you facing this issue when you attempt to install any execution application?

    This happens if you set your settings to show this message for everything attempt to be install from outside store and Safety Scanner is not UWP app and it is for all non-UWP or non-Store app.

    You could go ahead and install it or you could change setting so don't show this again.
