To add a new paper size to Microsoft Print To PDF, you'll need to create a custom paper size in the printer's settings. Here are the steps to follow:

Open the "Printers & Scanners" settings in Windows 11.

Select "Microsoft Print to PDF" from the list of printers.

Click on "Manage" to access the printer's settings.

Click on "Printing preferences" to open the printer preferences dialog.

Select the "Advanced" tab.

Click on the "Printing Defaults" button.

In the "Printing Defaults" dialog, click on the "Advanced" tab.

Click on the "Paper/Output" option in the left-hand panel.

Under "Paper Size", select "Custom" from the drop-down menu.

In the "Custom Paper Sizes" dialog, click on the "New" button to create a new paper size.

Enter a name for the new paper size (e.g. "A1"), and set the paper dimensions in millimeters or inches.

Click "OK" to save the new paper size.

Select the new paper size from the "Paper Size" drop-down menu in the printer preferences.

Click "OK" to apply the changes.

After adding the new paper size, you should be able to print to that size using Microsoft Print to PDF. Keep in mind that some applications may not support custom paper sizes, so you may need to adjust the page settings in those applications to match the new paper size.

 

Printer's default paper size ignored

I often print to PDFs. My PDF printers are set to a default paper size of Legal. But when I print the size is Letter and I have to change it each time. This used to work. I'm not sure when it changed.

• Windows Setting Manage Default Printer is not checked
• Doesn't matter which printer I use - PDFCreator, Bullzip PDF, Adobe PDF
• Windows 10 build 1803
• Happens when printing from many apps - Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Email
• Works properly when printing from other apps - Notepad, Notepad++, browsers
• Happens on multiple computers - desktop and laptop

We suggest that you try to set the paper size of the exact document first. You can create a custom page size before you proceed with
Microsoft Print to PDF, it should auto-detect the paper size of the document.

To set the paper size in Microsoft Office:

• Click on the Page Layout/Page Design tab.
• Click on Size, and then in the options available, click on
  More Paper Sizes...
• Click on the drop-down arrow and scroll down to the last option which is
  Custom size. You will be able to customize your preferred paper size.
• Once done, click on OK, and then proceed with Microsoft Print to PDF.
