Last connected & functional wi-fi network sometimes disappears from available networks list

    Hi all

I've had an issue on my Dell E6430S running Win10 for about 18 months now which has progressively gotten worse and I haven't found a working fix anywhere online.

The laptop is permanently kept in my home office & connects daily to our office network & internet via wifi on an ASUS DSL-N17U router.

The PC is set up to automatically connect to our office WiFi network on bootup, however on some mornings I began to notice it hadn't connected. Upon checking the available networks list, I noticed that the office router's SSID does not show up in the available networks list. The network does not show up no matter what I try on the PC, see list of things I've tried below.

The router is physically less than 3m away from the laptop, and all other devices I've tried other laptops, desktops, cell phones etc. are able to connect/disconnect from the router while the problem is happening on my particular PC only.

Things I've tried which do not work to fix the problem or make the network reappear:

    • Switch off the "automatically connect" option for that network.
    • Rebooting PC.
    • Switching off & on WiFi switch on laptop.
    • Deleting/forgetting the affected network from known networks list.
    • Disable & re-enable network drivers.
    • Update network drivers either by the device manager update driver button which says best drivers are installed or by manually doing it via downloading the driver from the Dell website.

    What does work:

    • Rebooting the router
    • Waiting +/- 30 minutes for the network to suddenly & magically reappear on my available networks list.

Any assistance would be hugely appreciated. Please let me know what technical info you need about my PC/Network Card/Router etc. and I will reply with it.

    :)

Windows 10 stop automatically connecting to random new wi-fi networks

    Hi,

I have searched a lot, but all the tutorials I found only explained how to not connect automatically to a known wi-fi network or how to disable wi-fi sense... but this is not what I am looking for...

    PROBLEM:

    • When my laptop (Windows 10 Pro X64) is not connected to a network and the wireless adapter is on, it will automatically connect to any random new unsecured wi-fi network... The only way I have now to avoid this is to disable my wi-fi adapter.

UNUSEFUL TUTORIALS I FOUND ON THE INTERNET:

    • How to manually uncheck the option for a particular wi-fi network not to connect automatically in Network Properties. This is not what I am looking for. This would suggest that everytime I power my computer. I would have to manually go through all the available wi-fi networks and unclick them all...
    • How to disable Wi-Fi Sense. This is not useful, because I don't even have a Wi-Fi sense option in my computer where the tutorials say it should be.

    EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

    • I am looking for an option to tell my computer to stop connecting randomly to unknown wi-fi networks like an hyperactive, reckless idiot.

    PERSONAL COMMENT:

    • Honestly, why would any respectable company think that it could be somewhat wise or secure to do this... Anyone's computer could just randomly connect to any hacker's wi-fi network without the user even knowing it...

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  3. Laptop won't show list of available networks

We suggest checking the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your laptop.

    Please follow these steps:

    • Click the Windows logo.
    • Go to Settings (gear icon).
    • Select Network and Internet.
    • Then Wi-Fi.
    • Make sure the Wi-Fi radio button is On.
    • Select Show available networks, then you'll be able to see the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

Update us with the outcome so we provide further assistance.

Wi-Fi drops connection and available networks disappear

    hello,

My laptop drops connection with my wi-fi network and all available wi-fi networks disappear from the list.

After 1 minute, networks that disappeared reappears, but doesn't connect automatically to my network (connect automatically is checked).

This happens every 30 minutes and sometimes instantly repeats after reconnecting to my network.

Other devices works well. They don't drop connection.

For example a few minutes ago I got snowflake mark on wi-fi icon and when I clicked it there was only one network (while there are nearly 10 networks near me).

Sometimes I get snowflake and inside available networks I see my network and one or two other networks, but when I click connect and snowflake disappears I instantly get disconnected and getting snowflake or red cross.

I tried re installation of wi-fi driver. Also network reset. channel changing, because there are nearly 10 networks in range, so I chose 12th channel, because there are no networks on that channel. also unticked box inside wi-fi adapter's power management
mode. I also did some other methods that I found in microsoft forum. Also did virus scan and my laptop was clean.

Laptop's wi-fi adapter is not broken, because everything worked perfectly 3 days ago. This problem started after uninstalling network device from device manager, when laptop automatically installed network driver with hardware changes scan. Router is in
very good condition. I don't have this problem on my other devices. Hope you help me to fix this issue. Thanks in advance
