    Hi,


    Here is another problem with a 2 years old game on a 2 years old laptop - cannot load, just black screen and the cursor.


    Could the problem be Direct X (the game needs 11 and I have 12), some other missing program or are the new computers gaming hostile? Anyway, not being able to run a 2 years old program on a 2 years old machine is not normal and I hope there is a ix for it.


    Otherwise everything works so it cannot be the computer' s fault.

    Black screen with cursor on screen after few days from upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

    Original Title: Issue with black screen with cursor after win7 upgraded to win10

    Post upgrade from win7 to win10 it worked fine for few days but recently I am facing a problem with black screen appearing after entering the password, only cursor is visible. I did below steps suggested on Internet

    1. hit ctrl+Alt+del

    2. start a new task from task manager

    3. Hit explorer.exe

    However this fails saying a feature for windows 10 need to be installed call NTVDM. It tries to install and fails with error . Can somebody suggest me a solution to this?

    Black screen with flashing cursor

    Two weeks ago I had to delete and reload Windows 10. A few days ago my screen suddenly went black with the blinking cursor in the top left hand corner.

    I can only do a hard reboot, and when I do, on my screen I briefly get the Dell logo with
    F2 Set Up / F12 Boot Options in the lower right corner. Then it quickly reverts to a black screen with blinking cursor. Pressing either of the F2 /F12 keys has no effect.

    I have attempted to do a hard boot 3 & 4 times in succession but it always comes back to the black screen with blinking cursor.

    No sticky key combinations that I have seen mentioned on the Community page work at all. I'm stuck on the black screen with cursor.

    Any suggestions?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
