Windows 10: Last night Windows 10 ran a 40 minute update: today laptop cant get past the bios setup...

As the header states. Last night when I went to shut down my laptop [Aorus gaming laptop with formally everything running fine using Windows 10 64bit on 1TB solid state drive] the shutdown options insisted that I 'apply updates then shut down'. During that update process it shutdown and restarted several times until update completed and then finally switched off for the night.. Tonight when I went to start the computer the system boots directly in to the BIOS setup, from there I have tried all sorts of tweaks but no sign of windows...

Attempting automated repair from USB installer brings no joy so I'm going to have to poke around... NOT HAPPY!!! Anyone encountered similar catastrophe during recent Windows update, any suggestions to get things back without a reinstall?

Windows 10 freezes of "Getting Things Ready 40%"

Hi everybody,

I have been trying to get windows 10 tech preview 10130 and 10162 installed via usb as a clean install on a 64GB partition on my Acer RL70 pc. Each time I do, I go through all the steps in the initial windows setup screen, it reboots, and gets to the getting
things ready screen. it takes about 20-30 minutes just to get to 40% and never progresses past it. I let it run all night last night and was still stuck on 40% in the morning.

Any ideas?

I have two computers doing the same thing right now.

Upgrade just happens and computers restart and then freeze at somepoint showing percentage.

I have two more computers that may do the same thing very soon. How do I stop the upgrade?
