Windows 10: Last update changed folders to show what's inside on desktop. How do I turn this off?

After the last update to Windows, all of my folders on my desktop now show a little preview of what files are inside. The icon is now an open folder with whatever images or files are inside being shown on the desktop. Every single time an update comes out, little things change about where I can customize things or what settings and pathways are called. I don't remember where to go to fix this, unless it's on a folder by folder basis, which is not what I want to do. Now, updates are actively changing things for me, like what my folders display. How convenient! How do I change this back to being

[Updated]AMD/ATi 2D Clock Guide

Ever since Catalyst 11.6, AMD has changed things around somewhat since the previous guide with the HD 5XXX series. Here's the updated guide on how to set your 2D clocks where you want them. Please let me know if anything can be made clearer in this guide. Enjoy!

• Open AMD Vision Control Center (Advanced View).
• Presets.
• Add Preset.

[heading]Step 2[/heading]

• Enter a profile name in the field.
• Tick "Save" then close. Do not activate the profile yet.

[heading]Step 3[/heading]

• Now you will need to make sure you can view hidden folders on your system by going to the Control

Panel-->Folder Options-->View tab and select "Show hidden files, folders and drives." Close.

• Go to your "My Documents" folder and open the AppData folder. From there open the Local folder->ATi->ACE then right click the Profiles document (Not the folder yet) and tick edit.
• Highlight everything and tick Copy. Close.
• Now open the Profiles folder then right click and tick edit on the profile (that you named earlier). Delete the entries in there, then paste in what you copied just earlier.

• From there you change the two values below. As I indicate in the picture I'm using CrossFire so I have two entries to change. Input the 2D clocks you want, then Save.
• Save it then right click the CCC icon and activate your profile

Cannot change desktop icon

Sometimes a desktop icon changes from what it was to a plain white folder. Might be something I did but not sure what.

To change it to the icon I want, I go:

1. Rt-click icon > Properties > Change icon
2. I select the icon I want from the thumbnails of icons.
3. Click OK
4. Click Apply

But the icon does not change. It just stays looking like a white folder.
HOWEVER, if I pin the icon to the taskbar, the icon on the taskbar does look like the icon I selected in step-2. So the change is registered with Win10 but the icon on the desktop just doesn't change.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
