19042.985 was dumped onto my pcs without any warning [that I could see]. Now both computers are running slow. Even logging in takes ages for the log-in window to appear. And the MSN Homepage using FIREFOX is as slow as the proverbial: the pictures are just greyed-out with a heading that if moused, eventually opens the&nbs

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

My Group Policies WU - being set for 'Notify for Download and Install' - has held KB5003173 in queue since it first appeared. This morning it is gone.

Is there any word on MS recalling this update?

Edit: FWIW, WUMT still shows it being available; a *double check* of installed files (in case it somehow slipped by) does not show it installed.
