Latest update altered resolution, cannot fix

The latest update installed when I turned my PC on this morning and my resolution has been changed. It's set slightly too large, with the display going outside the borders of the screen. The screen also seems to be a lot brighter than it was before.

Before this update, the resolution fit perfectly to my screen. No matter what I try via Display Settings or the NVIDIA Control Panel, it won't go back to the way it was before. Did the update seriously remove a resolution or am I missing something here? Any help that would prevent me having to roll back updates would be fantastic. Thanks *Smile

[Also interesting to note that in Programs and Features, it doesn't have any updates listed, despite having updated the system literally half an hour ago.]

    :)

    Windows 10 Monitor Issues

I have just installed windows 10 and my monitor (I use an HD TV) is not recognised by windows 10. I have tried altering the display settings but it just won't detect it.

The display is very poor quality now and I cannot adjust the resolution to full hd.

    How can I fix this?

Fixed the excessive screen brightness but the issue with screen resolution remains.

You're using an HDTV as a monitor?

    Web search on "overscan".

I guess that is the basis of your issue.

I recommend setting Windows 10 to not upgrade drivers through Windows Update. You can't block other updates, but you can stop driver updates.

Lol, changing the aspect ratio on the TV remote fixed it. Thanks for the help *Smile

Overscan happens to me on a monitor that is connected to a laptop that is running the Windows basic graphics driver*, that persistently fails to accept that the selected resolution of 900x1440 is actually the recommended monitor resolution and not 1080x1200, as windows display settings seem to recommend after every bootup - until after colour calibration, ClearType calibration recognises that 900x1440 is the recommended monitor screen resolution.

The overscan (only on 1080x1200) is cleared by setting the monitor picture menu to auto.

*Because the Intel HD integrated graphics is unsupported by Windows 10
